We are one of the 45 Audit Commissionerates established by the Central Board of Excise and Customs upon cadre restructuring with effect from 16.10.2014 across the country with an objective to improve the functional efficiency of audit. The Commissionerate is entrusted with the specialized job of audit which is one of the important compliance verification tools available to the tax administration to verify the correctness of the taxes self-assessed and reported in the tax returns by the tax payers besides complying with other legal obligations. An effective taxpayer audit plays a key role in improving compliance and augmenting tax revenue and therefore keeping this prime objective in mind, separate Audit Commissionerates were set up.
